Dani's Story
Photography started as a hobby for me in High School. I started with sports photography, moved to social media content creation for my job and as a volunteer, then eventually landed a job as a camera operator for WRAL. While studying Visual Effects at University of North Carolina School of the Arts, I continued to work with small businesses in Winston Salem, NC. That led to some amazing job opportunities, including my photos being featured in Forsyth Family Magazine and working as a crew member of World's Greatest TV. When reflecting back on all of the amazing opportunities that I have had, my favorite and most fulfilling work comes back to the community. I started this business as a way to connect more people together. For me, it is about showcasing the uniqueness and humanity in businesses that have a team that matters. That is where my heart is and I have seen the impact that it can make on the community.
Fittingly, I met Nate (my co-founder), in the gym. We soon became close and over the past few years, have seen each other grow from young adults to adults. Through that transition, we came up with the idea for a media company. After going our separate ways to pursue our dreams in college, we came back together in an effort to help our community. Since freelance photography was something I pursued in High School, Nate was the perfect addition to the team.
Nate's Story
From a young age, I had always had a strong love and passion for business. I had always dreamed of owning a business and taking on the responsibilities of a company. Due to this passion, I joined DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) and continue to follow my passion, currently enrolled at UNCW.
Through my studies in school, I've become fond of small businesses in my area, admiring the work that business owners put in to pursue their dreams. A goal of mine has always been to support local businesses, and help them to get the recognition that they so badly deserve.
Dani and I have created a close friendship over the years. I've watched her do amazing things with photography and admired her passion for the perfect shot. Dani took photos for my Instagram in a pursuit for fitness modeling, and I loved how they came out. A few friends of mine then asked if she would be willing to photograph them, making me realize the potential in a business centered around this service. Dani had then approached me with the idea for Nighthawk and asked if I would like to be part of the team, and we built our business of off that foundation.
